Commission Agreement

By commissioning the artist you are agreeing to the following terms. Please read carefully.

What is a commission?

A commission is a unique creation customized to meet the specifications of the client. Often a client may opt to commission a work of art, as opposed to buying an available painting based on the following:

  • A unique gift for someone special

  • Seeking a more personalized creation

  • A painting for a particular sized wall

  • A painting to compliment your own interiors

Process

  • To have a painting customized please contact me to discuss the subject, color scheme, size, painting style, and other details. Sometimes depending on the composition I may do a digital mockup in Sketchbook to show the client. Please note that the mockup only serves as a visual aid and the finale painting may differ in certain aspects.

  • Using the square inch method commissions are priced at $2.00 USD per square inch starting at 18" x 24" inches. The price will also vary based on details.

  • To proceed, a non-refundable deposit of  50% is required upfront. Upon the completion of the painting, the outstanding balance is due prior to shipping or during the collection by the purchaser.

  • All commissions are created as an interpretation of the client's brief within the selected artist's creative style. A specially commissioned work of art usually takes 2 to 3   weeks. However, factors such as order of commission, complexity, health, and family issues can also influence the completion of the painting. The client will be notified if any of the stated conditions above occurs.

  • Throughout the creative process, the client will be updated with a few progress shots via email or WhatsApp.

  • Minor changes are possible at an early stage, however major changes at an advanced stage will require an extra charge.

  • The artist retains both the 50% down payment and the work with the right to sell if approval was granted throughout the creative process, but the client does not appreciate the final painting.

  • The client can collect the finished work from the artist or utilize the delivery service at a cost.

  • The client is responsible for the installation of the painting. The painting is unframed with proper hanging hardware already attached.
